2018 WDC Women in the Law Committee Clothing Drive!

Professional Clothing Drive Dropoff # 1 complete! Crystal Uebelher, of SECURA Insurance, and I were so pleased to be able to drop off our collected contributions to the YWCA of Green Bay's Women's Career Closet this evening (we filled 2 carts!) They have a great program at their Women's Empowerment Center with various services (check out the website). Our donations went to the Women's Career Closet, which: "is designed to serve women 18 years of age or older who are interviewing, building a wardrobe for an existing job, or in need of clothing for court appointments." Shoppers at the WCC can come in 4 times a year and select a certain number of each items (including purses, shoes, accessories) to build/maintain a work wardrobe. There is no "proof of income" required, just proof of residency... so if you know of someone who could benefit from this great program, please encourage them to check it out!

Hannah from WCC was kind enough to tour us around their facility and noted that they have the Madison Street Boutique, at which they take more "upscale" type of donations and resell them to help fund their programs. This is open to all and I promised her I'd encourage people to stop by and check it out! There's some good-looking stuff in there... if Crystal and I weren't running off to other obligations we may have left with our arms full. Boutique hours are on the website.

This is the Wisconsin Defense Counsel Women in the Law Committee's 2nd year of collecting these donations statewide and distributing them to similar charitable groups among several geographic reasons. I look forward to joining Crystal again to make our delivery to the men's closet tomorrow. I have been extremely proud to represent the Wisconsin Defense Counsel, Everson, Whitney, Everson & Brehm, and the legal profession as a whole while delivering these generous donations from so many friends and colleagues. You know who you are... thank you! And if you missed out this year, we'll be back at it again next year! - Heather Nelson, Everson, Whitney, Everson & Brehm
