Foti to Address Joint Luncheon

WDC Journal Edition: December 2001
By: Jim Hough - CTCW Executive Director

Wisconsin State Assembly Majority Leader Steve "Mickey" Foti will be the featured speaker at the Second Annual Joint Luncheon of CTCW and CPCU. Despite his relative youth (42), Steve Foti has served as Assembly Majority Leader for the past six years and has been a member of the Wisconsin Legislature for nearly 20 years. One of the most respected and popular members of this, or any, legislative body, Steve Foti (R-Oconomowoc) has the reputation as one who can work both sides of the aisle and come closest of anyone in either house of achieving compromise, even when the two houses and two parties are at their most contentious.

Known by his friends as "Mickey" (from Mantle, not Mouse), one of Foti's most notable achievements is his ability to be the same person in his leadership role that he was when he was a "backbencher" some 20 years ago. In addition to his legislative achievements, Mickey remains active in the private sector. He has a real estate broker's license and owns several small businesses. These two facts distinguish Steve Foti from many of his colleagues.

Representative Foti will not address legal issues pending before the State Legislature. Rather, he will provide his perspective on legislative activity and focus on the aftermath of the events of September 11. He will address specific legislative initiatives, the looming state deficit and the extent to which civility, or the lack thereof, exists between the Senate and the Assembly and between Democrats and Republicans. Please join your CPCU friends and Representative Foti. You will not be disappointed.
